Chapter Philanthropy and Service
When it comes to helping others, the women of the Rockhurst Kappa Eta chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha are always ready to jump right in! Together we are dedicated and work hard to raise money for our national philanthropy--the Zeta Foundation, Inc. which benefits Breast Cancer Education and Awareness.
At Rockhurst University, we take pride in our close-knit community and service to others in the Jesuit tradition. In Kappa Eta, we strive to be an embodiment of both through our work benefiting the Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation as well as supporting the philanthropy of every other organization on campus both fiscally and by attending their events.
The sisters of Kappa Eta Chapter here at Rockhurst University spend an entire week, devoted to raising money and awareness to our much loved philanthropy!
Think Pink Week takes place one week every school year, during the month of October as October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Through Kappa Eta’s hard work and dedication, our Think Pink Week raised the most money out of all the Greek-affiliated philanthropy weeks on our campus this year.
The most famous event on campus that the Kappa Eta sisters of Zeta Tau Alpha do annually is the Big Man on Campus (BMOC) male beauty pageant! A male from each campus organization participates in both fashion and talent competitions. It is a truly hilarious site to see, and a much loved tradition here on the Rockhurst campus. Tickets sell out every year, and all proceeds are donated to our wonderful philanthropy, Breast Cancer Awareness and Education! Other Think Pink Week events include Midnight Breakfast, Musical Bingo, and raffles!
Other ways in which Kappa Eta' helps our community is through participating in the American Cancer Society's' Relay For Life event that takes place annual at Rockhurst University. Our chapter puts together a team to help raise funds and both participate and volunteer at the event. As a chapter, we also sponsor a child in Guatemala named Estella through the Unbound program.
